There's More Porn Coming to Oculus Rift

The future means new systems for delivering porn. They're cropping up more and more frequently in recent history—namely the robot-Oculus Rift combo that makes virtual sex feel real, and skin flicks recorded with Google Glass.

So when VentureBeat reported that the porn streaming service SugarDVD is both producing and streaming porn for Oculus Rift, it struck me as yet another one of the inescapable byproducts of tech designed to replicate human experiences on machines.

I’m referring, of course, to the widely accepted Rule 34—the convention suggesting that pornography exists for “any conceivable subject.” In essence, if it's a thing, someone somewhere will make a XXX version, and Facebook's latest acquisition is no exception.

The details about SugarDVD’s porn are fairly sparse at this point. The company has said that it’s going to first make its existing X-rated catalog available on Oculus Rift, as soon as it finishes its app for the gadget.

Next, the company told VentureBeat that it’s going to work with Los Angeles-based motion capture studios to generate original virtual reality porn that’s going to “take full advantage of the Rift’s technology.” SugarDVD also said that it’s going to try and include functionality similar to a “choose your own adventure” type of game that apparently is already integrated into some of its DVD releases.

At this point it’s not clear what Facebook or Oculus are going to do about SugarDVD, if anything. When MiKandi tried to get the first Glass porn app—Tits and Glass—onto the Google store, the search giant changed its terms of service, and banned basically anything that even remotely resembles pornography.

Oculus's terms of service for its VR platform notes that "you may encounter content that may be deemed offensive, indecent, or objectionable" while using Rift. There already looks like there’s a ton of porn available for Rift, too, including one developer making anime pornt.

“I Have anime sex with Hatsune Miku in the Oculus Rift… I'm not even kidding!” reads a comment on a YouTube video of game’s developer demonstrating his wares.

And there’s another company making the flesh-and-blood variety called OculusRealPorn, that says it offers “180 degree head tracking” of all of the action—which looks a lot like a souped up video streaming service, or perhaps another version of some of the incredible immersive non-porn movie offerings that are being developed for Rift.

One of the most interesting apps that’s apparently in beta right now is called Chathouse 3D, in which Rift-wearing players run around the virtual environment, chatting, and “seducing” one another for “hot sexual encounters.”

It’s basically a massively multiplayer online game for virtual fucking, and has won a Venus Award for innovation in the adult industry. The company even recommends some sex-toys that look similar to the sex robot made by Tenga that we wrote about. One thing's for sure: With multiple offerings for virtual sex already available for Rift, there are undoubtedly more to come.
