If you haven't seen David Lynch's surreal, mind-bending series Twin Peaks from the early 1990s, you should go watch it right away because it's pretty much the greatest TV show ever. And now it has its own retro (obviously) Atari 2600-style video game. In a series of events befitting this creepy, uncanny show, a guy who runs a Twin Peaks fansite, Welcome to Twin Peaks, seems to have willed the game into existence. He was pondering what a video game based on the show might be like in a blog post, and then lo and behold, by the evil power of The Man from Another Place, Black Lodge 2600 emerged.

In the game, created by Jak Locke, you get to play Special Agent Dale Cooper and, as you've probably gathered from the title, you're trapped in the Black Lodge, a weird realm of unholy darkness that features a lot of red curtains and black and white zigzag flooring—as all evil domains worth their salt do. In the game you need to find your way out from this disturbing place, while avoiding your doppelganger who's hot on your trail. From comments on the YouTube video above and the Welcome to Twin Peaks site that originally ran the story last June, the game seems pretty hard—but there's an Easter egg for anyone who can score over 5000 points. Download it for PC and Mac here.
