Canadian Government Issues Suspiciously Timed Recall of the DeLorean DMC-12

Well played!

Whoa, hey! Did you know today is totally the day that Marty McFly went back to the future in that one movie we all love, Back to the Future?

It's been a pretty "epic" day already for memes already—what with it being the day that Marty faced the dystopian consequences of shredding the space-time continuum in some pretty irresponsible ways—but the government of Canada has one more.

Transport Canada has just recalled the DeLorean DMC-12 model that Doc and Marty used to travel back—and forward—in time, turning the world into a hellish corporate dystopia ruled by a psychotic bully because Marty was feeling embarrassed about his dad one day.

The reason for the recall, the government website states, is that "a defect in the flux capacitor could lead to inability to travel through time while travelling at 88 miles per hour (141.6 km/h) and may increase energy consumption beyond 1.21 gigawatts." The government agency adds that "this could have disastrous consequences."

That's pretty incredible, but the gag doesn't end there. The bogus recall finishes off with a coup de grace: "Correction: Doc Brown will affect repairs."

Amazing.
