Alas, after five games of human civilization trying to make it here on Earth, we've finally failed. The only hope is a new world in space.The trailer above was released today, with the game itself set for release this fall. It sort of makes me think of a game version of Red Mars, particularly after looking at the screenshots. Beyond Earth also wouldn't be the first sci-fi Civilization game (or highly Civ-esque game, technically). That would be 1999's lauded Alpha Centauri. If Meier and his developer army at Firaxis can evolve the Civ series to where it is today, with the dual masterpieces of Civ IV and Civ V, what they might do with science-fiction after 15 years is cause for some intense anticipation.
