Here’s a wonderful bit of archival schlock for you: a sort-of adaptation of Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game” called Bloodlust!, directed by the very Sixties-sounding Ralph Brooke. The plot’s as straightforward as it can get. Thanks to IMDB for this one:

A group of teen-agers vacationing in the tropics take a boat out to a seemingly deserted island. They soon find, however, that the island is inhabited by a wealthy recluse and his staff. While their host is initially hospitable, he quickly reveals his true purpose: to hunt down and kill each of his visitors, as he has done with everyone unlucky enough to set foot on his island.

Never mind the fact that those teens look to be in their mid-forties. (Everyone was smoking unfiltered cigs and slugging back cholesterol like wheatgrass shots back then, so perhaps it’s just premature aging.) Look at the villain! Played by Wilton Graff — who passed away in 1969, to give you a frame of reference — Dr. Albert Balleau is a wonderful homage to the days when all it took to make someone evil was to add a thin moustache and some sort of under-lip thing.

No shit this guy wants to hunt people for sport! That’s why he grew that ’stache in the first place. Now, what does that say about all those dudes running around with fancy-styled beards these days? Well, they’re certainly not trustworthy, that’s for sure. So I’d suggest that, rather than braving the train-stealing, people-hunting weirdos out there, stay in tonight, crack open something tasty, and watch this.
