Amateur Porn Platform Eroshare Is Shutting Down

After more than 10 years of helping people anonymously share nudes and porn online, Eroshare will shut down at the end of the month.

The site launched in 2007 and was something of an alternative to YouTube, which has always banned porn. In recent years, it became more akin to Imgur with video hosting capabilities; it's currently popular with Reddit's amateur porn communities. The site described itself as "a hosting platform that provides a safe and easy way to upload, store and share all your wild and erotic photos and videos. You control who you share your stuff with." The site was also regularly used to share pirated professional porn.

In a post on its homepage, the site's founders said it will shut down June 30.

"The amount of growth and demand we've experienced has been phenomenal to say the least. Sadly, we are no longer able to offer this service," they wrote. "Eroshare.com will shut down on June 30th, 2017. Albums will remain viewable until that day. Please download and backup your files."

Amateur porn subreddits have immediately started freaking out—a moderator post on GoneWildTube (all links in this paragraph NSFW) noted that the community will have to find "new worthy hosts to fill [the] great role Eroshare.com has played." Eroshare's loss is being lamented everywhere from /r/homemadexxx to /r/cuckold to /r/sexover30. Moderators and redditors are rushing to backup their favorite Eroshare content.

Motherboard has reached out to the site's founders asking for more information about the site's closure—I'll update this post if I hear back.
