The Impact of Affordable Smartphones

Affordable smartphones are reshaping the world.

For many of us the smartphone can be viewed as an extension of the human body. The abilities and opportunities presented to us through this modern invention have changed how we operate each and every second of our day. From taking selfies, to checking Facebook, to consuming almost any type of content you want at a moment's notice, documenting our daily lives and learning what's happening around us has become a necessity for many of us in this digital age.

But, like many tech gadgets, the smartphone hasn't always been affordable. Premium features such as a high-end processor, fingerprint sensor, AI capabilities, and a large camera among others–typically seen as the standard and mush-have technologies by consumers today,–have normally been paired with premium prices sometimes costing up to $900. But if these technologies are seen as standard within the industry amongst consumers, $900 is simply unreachable for the masses.

ZTE Axon 7 Mini

So, how can smartphones with the necessary technology to make our lives seamless with the world around us become more affordable for consumers when still today, the average price for a smartphone in the United States sits around $550?

Enter ZTE. As the fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer in the US, ZTE has made a name for itself on providing affordable handsets packed with premium features. Take its Axon 7 flagship device. Whether it's the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, crystal clear AMOLED screen, 20MP rear-camera that can capture 4K video or its unbeatable Hi-Fi sound with dual front facing speakers, many consumers would think that this phone would cost well about the $550 average mark for a smartphone today. But ZTE is able to bring this type of premium performance to an affordable price point of only $400, well within reach of more consumers who are looking for a flagship device.

The ability for consumers to grab premium, flagship smartphones will continue to change how the world interacts with each other. No more buffering, no more grainy photos, no more videos that simply are unwatchable. The ability to document the world around us and share what is happening is essential in today's digital age. As a result of companies like ZTE, new features that could initially be considered luxuries have a very small turnaround time to becoming standard for many devices.

This is represented in even lower-priced devices from ZTE where its $80 Grand X 3 with Cricket Wireless features true Hi-Fi sound, or in its $99 ZMAX Pro with MetroPCS where its fast fingerprint sensor makes usability a breeze. ZTE has been leading the charge in brining premium features typically found on flagship devices down to the masses so all consumers can enjoy connecting with others in a more seamless experience.

Smartphones have and will continue to change how we react to the world around us and ZTE wants to celebrate with consumers at this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Through its consumer-driven forum, Z-Community, ZTE is holding a contest on who can show their fanaticism for Android or ZTE, and will choose 7 Grand Prize Winners to win an all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas 12 Secondary Prize Winners will also receive a portion of their trip paid to attend the show and ZTE's Pre-CES Fan Event.
