A Counterterrorism Drone Strike Gone Horribly Wrong, in a Single GIF

Meanwhile, a drone activist is silenced.

Baraa Shiban, a leading human rights activist in Yemen, has been investigating a drone strike conducted by the CIA which killed twelve people in central Yemen on December 12th, 2013. The drone strike was intended for a suspected member of al-Qaeda. However, according to witnesses, the strike ended up hitting a convoy of poor farmers on their way to a wedding.

After traveling to the region shortly after the attacks, Baraa reported his findings to the media. The next day, he received an anonymous call threatening his life if he continued the investigation. Baraa isn't the first drone activist to receive threats, and if even a strike on a wedding remains controversial, it surely won't be the last.
