Watch a Tesla Model S Go Up Against an Actual Race Car

Spoiler: the Tesla kicks its ass.

We already know that Tesla Motors makes awesome cars, with crazy acceleration times and precedent-setting safety ratings. But how do they stack up against actual racing cars?

Australian YouTube channel CarAdvice sent road tester Paul Maric to a racetrack to put Tesla's four-door sedan, the Model S, to the test. Maric is driving a top-flight iteration of the Model S, the P85D, which features 691 horsepower and can go 0-60 mph in only 3.1 seconds. It doesn't have the newest "Ludicrous Mode," but it has "Insane Mode," which is already plenty fast.

In the first race, Maric and his Model S go up against a Walkinshaw Performance W507, "the fastest four-door sedan Australian money can buy." You may not have heard of Walkinshaw, but this car is souped up to the gills. Too bad the Tesla beats it handily.

Not satisfied, Maric's opponent then puts him up against an actual racing car: the Holden Commodore V8 Supercar. Guess who wins that one?

If you had any remaining doubts about the near-magical properties of a Tesla, this video should put them to rest. Also, how do I get Maric's job?
