Get Ready for Biofabricate, the Summit Dedicated to Our Squishy, Living Future

Forget what you think you know about the future. The world of tomorrow isn't going to be made up of only shiny metal and glass. In fact, some of the most promising advances happening today are taking place in the fields of synthetic biology and biomaterials.

From creating ink out of algae to "growing" leather in the lab using living DNA, there's a whole cadre of artists, scientists, designers, biohackers, and other makers using the biological sciences to make a more environmentally sustainable (and squishier!) society. And you're about to hear from a bunch of them: Motherboard is teaming up with Biofabricate, a summit bringing these creators together for a series of discussions about their work, on Thursday, November 17 at the Parsons School of Design in New York City (from 9AM to 6PM ET).

As the official media partner of Biofabricate, we'll be bringing you exclusive coverage directly from the summit floor here and on our Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. It's going to be fun, as this event brings together people and ideas that could have a tremendous influence on the future.

The event was created by designer and entrepreneur Suzanne Lee. People interested in attending can still buy tickets here and follow along on the official Twitter account here.

So mark your calendars, queue up your David Cronenberg movies, and get ready to learn about how people are using living cells to reshape our environment. Long live the new flesh.
