Order a Pizza And Watch the 'Ninja Turtles' Intro Recreated With 'Mario Paint'

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles get A re-animation on an SNES game.

Congratulations on surviving another week in the year of our overlords 2016. In the last five days we have lost a rocket man, found out who among us watched a lot of WWE as kids, and saw another climate-denying shill take his spot in the sun. We've earned something good and pure.

Through the sweat and potential carpal tunnel of Mike Matei at Cinemassacre, the world's been gifted with the entire intro for the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show re-animated in Super Nintendo Mario Paint. This game, released on SNES in 1992, is one of a relative few for this console that uses a mouse instead of a controller, with functionality to draw, color, compose music or play mini games when the animating grind gets tedious.

One frame takes 30 minute to an hour to draw, as Matei demonstrates. He began this minute-long animation on July 29, 2016, and just finished it this month.

A side-by-side analysis reveals that, hot damn, he really did it. It's aligned almost perfectly with the real intro. It's turtle-based nostalgia all the way down.
