You May Soon Be Able to Delete Pre-Loaded iPhone Apps

When was the last time you even launched the Tips app?

The days of being forced to keep lesser-used, Apple-made apps like Stocks and Tips on your iPhone may soon be coming to an end.

In an interview with BuzzFeed News published today, Apple CEO Tim Cook said his company is "looking at" giving iPhone users the ability to delete certain pre-loaded apps from their devices. Cook claimed that Apple doesn't merely pre-load these apps to "suck up your real estate," but did say that it's a more "complex issue than it first appears."

"There are some apps that are linked to something else on the iPhone," Cook told BuzzFeed News. "If they were to be removed they might cause issues elsewhere on the phone."

While Cook did not specify exactly which apps might "cause issues" if they were deleted, it's not hard to imagine apps like Weather being tied deeply into iOS by way of Siri, Apple's virtual assistant software.
