In case you haven't been following the trailer bonanza at this year's Comic-Con, allow us to update you: It's been nerd paradise.

First, there was a behind-the-scenes look at the new Star Wars Episode 7, The Force Awakens, where viewers are reassured that "everything's changed, but nothing's changed." Fans initially concerned that CGI would again ruin the classic Star Wars aesthetic, as it did in the regrettable second series of films, seem to have agreed that the new direction shows a commitment to the past. Many YouTube commenters said they were moved to happy tears by the video, so if you're a superfan you may want to keep some Kleenex handy.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice also premiered this weekend.Ben Affleck's casting as Batman may have been heavily criticized when it was announced, but he looks like a pretty convincing Bruce Wayne in the trailer. The supporting cast includes Jeremy Irons, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Holly Hunter doing what looks a bit like a reprisal of her crazy role as a guru in Top of the Lake.

There were also a handful of leaked trailers, including Suicide Squad and X-Men: Apocalypse. (Watch them now, before they get taken down.) Suicide Squad features Will Smith as Deadshot and Jared Leto's much-anticipated portrayal of the Joker, and a supervillain-focused plot that is expected to dovetail with the story in Batman v Superman. X-Men looks equally intense. The series' ninth installment takes place in 1983, and features younger versions of classic X-Men characters.

All in all, a pretty exciting weekend for sci-fi and comics fans. Happy trailering.

Update: An official first look at Suicide Squad has now been released by Warner Brothers.
