Lego's Answer to 'Minecraft' Is Here

An early version of "Lego Worlds" is available on Steam.

Watch out, Minecraft: Lego wants to topple your world. Today, Lego rolled out a similar video game called Lego Worlds that also lets gamers build their own virtual worlds and interact as a Lego figurine.

The game is available for an "early access" download on Steam, which has so far garnered positive reviews.

As the brightly colored trailer above shows, the surroundings are made up of the iconic bricks, and players can customize their surroundings. "Entire worlds and creations are brought to life with characters and creatures that interact with each other as well as the player in unexpected ways," the company said in a release. (Look how cute the ostrich is at the :44 second mark!)

Judging by Minecraft's immense popularity and its whopping $2.5 billion purchase by Microsoft last year, it's about time Lego took a stab at creating its own version.

A full-version of Lego Worlds, including multiplayer options and social media integration, will launch later this year. So that should be enough time before the kid-friendly brand starts cracking down on making dongs, which has been a problem in the past.
