Steven Seagal Is Promoting ‘Bitcoiin,’ Which Has Nothing to Do With Bitcoin

Seagal pivots to trash crypto.

Steven Seagal, the former action star now best known for looking hilarious just eating a carrot, is the master of the life pivot lately. First came the pivot to stanning for the Putin regime and weighing in on football anthem protests, and now Seagal is pivoting to—oh, let me just see here—cryptocurrency! Alright then.

Seagal has lent his face to promoting something called “Bitcoiin” (full name: Bitcoiin 2Gen) as its brand ambassador, he announced on Twitter Tuesday morning. This “Bitcoiin” thing, it should be noted, has pretty much nothing to do with Bitcoin at all and is in fact a token based on the Ethereum blockchain. Of course, the company is currently running a token crowdsale in which it hopes to raise a “soft cap minimum” of $75 million. Presumably, the Bitcoiin 2Gen folks are hoping Segal’s global and respected brand will get them there. It did so much for the action novel he wrote.

If there’s one bright spot in all of this it’s Steven Segal’s words of blockchain wisdom, offered in Bitcoiin’s press release announcing his involvement: “Flow with whatever may happen and let your mind be free. Stay centered by accepting whatever you are doing. This is the ultimate.”

That is exactly what comes to mind when I think of an unregulated crowdsale for a digital token with a name reminiscent of a scammer buying “Waalmart.com.”
