Mexican National Player Miguel Layún Walks Out of Portugal Toys"R"Us, Offended by Border Wall Decoration

The Mexican national team player walked out after spotting the wall, set up with signs designating "USA" and "Mexico"—a clear nod to Trump's proposed infamous border wall.

Qué triste que el @ToysRUs en Gaia tenga este tipo de decoración. Optamos por salir cuando vimos esta "broma". pic.twitter.com/Nxo5MrIStV

It's hard to tell what was going through the minds of Gaia, Portugal Toys"R"Us employees when they dragged international politics into a kids toy store, but Miguel Layun was certainly not having it.

The Porto and Mexican national team player spotted a grey wall, set up with signs designating "USA" and "Mexico"—a clear nod to Trump's proposed infamous border wall—and responded with disgust. His tweet reads, "How sad that the Toys "R" Us in Gaia would have this type of decoration. We decided to leave when we saw this 'joke'."

Toys"R"Us, headquartered in New Jersey, responded with the following tweet:

@Miguel_layun Please know that this is not who we are and we have immediately contacted the store management in Portugal to address this

Toys"R"Us is likely coming in too little too late—feels like the Gaia Toys"R"Us employees really went out of their way for this. And for something that doesn't even make sense in the schema of the store.
