Find Your True Match Through You Beauty’s New Dating Chatroom

To celebrate the release of their new album 'Illywhacka', the Sydney band have launched a dating chatroom.

When we last caught up with You Beauty’s Will Farrier he spoke about meeting 47-year old goths on the internet.
Well, it seems that he and the guys have developed this idea further and to celebrate the release of their new album Illywhacka, the Sydney band have launched a dating chatroom. The website is thematically linked to the record, which is a concept album based around the story of an online romance scammer who falls in love with his would-be prey.

We logged on and had a chat to Will about love.

Noisey: Hi Will, are you there? It's Sam.
YouBeauty: I'm here :B. I'm chatting to ppl, they're telling me about their love life, their secrets, it's very touching to be a part of
Noisey: That sounds nice. Have you spent much time online dating?
YouBeauty: I did get hit up on here by one fan who told me she had a boyfriend but needed to experience more… but it was my gf trying to catch me out, which was disappointing, honestly
Noisey: The anonymity is part of charm though, isn't it?
YouBeauty: You're free to be yourself, or not yourself depending how you look at it. maybe it's as close to 70s free love styles as we can get these days
Noisey: I can see how it could be that way, as long as everyone is on the same page. Do you think it's healthy?
YouBeauty: It's no more unhealthy than sitting in a bar boozing yourself to the ground and sweating into your beer cause it's 2am and there's no leads on a babe yet. It's cheaper for one thing
Noisey: Have you ever had your love taken advantage of?
YouBeauty: Yes by You Beauty fans saying how much they love us and you're such a great band and then when it comes to buying a record their all like 'spotify mate'
Noisey: hehe. Have you ever taken advantage of someone else's love?
YouBeauty: Well one thing on this record that I get to have a dig down into while attributing the views to a fictional character is that maybe taking advantage of someone is all that love is.
YouBeauty: It's real dark but when you strip all the romance stuff that we pick up from movies and books and jane eyre and you've got mail etc. etc.,
YouBeauty: there's a lot of emotional manipulation and power struggles and all kinds of shit going on in there.
YouBeauty: Wow that is pretty dark isn't it… when you see it written down.
Noisey: It is, but I suppose that's especially clear in things like online dating and catfishing. There's an exchange there and both parties are aware of it, on some level or another
YouBeauty: What I see while chatting to ppl here is that maybe digital love is just a fleeting thing that gives you a little hit before you move on to your next encounter… our attention span has kind of dissolved into nothing cause of the net… so it makes sense that our attention span for love might do the same. And people seem to come and grab a hit of an illicit encounter, some intimate kind of moment where they bare their soul, and then go watch some cat movies on facey… you know?
Noisey: haha. I guess something like Tinder is the logical conclusion to what you're talking about. The instant "interested/not interested" decisions and judgements.

YouBeauty: so to answer your question, yes, I think you can fall in love online for sure… and maybe it's even easier because the person at the other end can just morph into what you want. They just grab a pic of a blonde surf dude cause said you like kelly slater or something
YouBeauty: So it's actually the only way to get exactly what you want…
YouBeauty: Love is that thing that people constantly over think. And I def over thunk it writing these lyrics. You can strip it down or you can build it up, but at the end of the day it's something you feel, not something you think about
YouBeauty: I had this guy I used to work with and every year he would complain that his gf wanted him to tell her all the reasons he loved her during their anniversary dinner…which sounds like hell and surely was
YouBeauty: He didn't know what to say… I and told him that that was a good thing. You can't talk about love. What you love about someone is what you can't put into words about them… so you express that without a language…
YouBeauty: That's what I told him to say to her anyway
Noisey: That sounds pretty perfect to me
YouBeauty: But I believe that. I believe in love. I an't afraid to say it.
YouBeauty: Sounds like I'm winning you over here Sam… careful, there's heaps of creeps online.
Noisey: hehe yeah I better get out of here before I get in too deep
YouBeauty: Do you reckon you could lend me twenty bucks by the way?
YouBeauty: Just a little short this week, need to worm my cat etc.
YouBeauty: I mean it's cool if not
YouBeauty: I just thought, you know, we kinda shared something here and it would mean a lot to me.
Noisey: hehehe, thanks for taking the time today Will, I appreciate it
Noisey: Good luck with the album, I listened today and it sounds great
YouBeauty: Okay, so that's a no I guess
YouBeauty: thanks Sam
