Artur Vill has worked on special effects for The Lego Movie and The Great Gatsby, but in his spare time he uses calculus to reproduce the natural complexity of romanesco broccoli. This week he released his latest project, a WebGL experiment called Eye Texture Raytracer, that allows you to manipulate a very real looking eyeball.WebGL is a JavaScript API that renders 3D graphics in a web browser without the installation of additional software. Vill built the giant eyeball so he could test out the capabilities of the technology. After getting over its similarity to the Eye of Sauron (especially when the “Circus” environment is on), see if you can make the eyeball bloodshot or turn it terrifyingly blank. In its next iteration, we hope Eye Texture Raytracer will somehow incorporate a viewer’s webcam, making it into an all-seeing eye, an animator’s panopticon reminding us we are all performers.Blink around at http://www.vill.ee/eye/
