Images viaThe ancient cities of Mayan culture didn't have a Bruce Wayne to rival crime, so who kept the forces of darkness at bay? If Mexican artist Kimbal had been around back then, his ceramic Batman-meets-ancient god armor would have been the perfect tool to outfit such a Mesoamerican crime-fighter.Using the patterns of ancient Mayan masks and clothes, Kimbal's remixed Batman armor seeks to emulate the ancient god Camazotz, a bat-headed god of the underworld. The fusion of pop culture and ancient mythology was one of 33 pieces at Batman a Través de la Creatividad Mexicana, a celebration of Batman's 75th anniversary at the Mexican Museum of Design in Mexico City. Though the armored costume could certainly work with a retrograde Batman, we have to ask: what would a Mayan version of The Joker look like?Take a look at Kimbal's painstaking process through the making-of images below.Check out Kimbal's Behance page for more of his intricate work.Related:Batman Comics Turned Into Creepy GIF ArtProjection Mapped Gods Bring Mexican Trees To LifeMeet The Animator Behind The World Cup's Most Viral Reaction GIFThe World's Smallest Comic Is Etched On A Human Hair
