Single serving Tumblrs certainly capture some of the essentials of our (or at least, my) day. They showcase the obsession with filtration, curation, and, perhaps most importantly, the totally inane. Hipster puppies, the first Tumblr I ever visited more than once, serves almost no purpose, cosmically, except of course, that it’s fantastic, and the perfect excuse to take a 5-make-that-20 minute break on a rainy afternoon. So you can probably understand how excited I was to find a new rainy afternoon work break destination: Out of Context Science. The site points out how ridiculous science is—I for one, am occasionally guilty of forgetting this—and at the same time, it points to articles that might, in fact, be really interesting. To wit:“The main problem with applying Helmholtz' theory. . . is that people are not 2-D rectangles.”“The research suggests that the members of the crime clan were not as good at telling time as they were at ritual murder.”“The 39 percent of men… who said marijuana extended the duration of sex may just have been experiencing the drug's altering effects on the perception of time.”Brilliant.Related"
