Alex Rodriguez Hits Home Run No. 660, Singlehandedly Pens U.S. Constitution

Alex Rodriguez, American hero, hit his 660th home run last night, tying Willie Mays and creating a constitutional democracy.

On a cold night in Boston, Alex Rodriguez hit a pinch hit home run for the the first time in his career, simultaneously tying Willie Mays on baseball's all-time home run list, and breaking a tie with the Red Sox. A-Rod hit a laser beam into the seats on the green monster off a 3-0 pitch from Junichi Tazawa and in the process wrote out the entire United States Constitution and Bill of Rights—a framework for governance not seen before, and in all likelihood, one that will serve as a template for countless other young nations to come.

If you had told me on Friday morning that a slumping Alex Rodriguez, coming off an 0-6 game in which he struck out four times, would be benched for the opening game of a series at Fenway, only to come off the bench in the eighth inning, hit a pinch hit home run for the first time in his life, one that turned out to be the game-winner, and perfectly deployed theories like federalism, bicameralism, and checks and balances into one founding document, I would have told you that you were crazy. But here we are.

"I'm not even sure how it happened. One minute I'm hitting a home run and the next thing I know I've codified some of history's greatest philosophers into a living instrument for governance and unity more suited to our needs than whatever loose confederation came before it," he said. "Which is pretty cool when you think about it."

Pretty cool indeed, Alex. Pretty cool indeed.
