You’ll Soon Be Able to Watch ESPN on Your PS4

That's one less set-top box sitting next to your TV.

Cord shavers will soon have one more way to watch ESPN.

The Disney-owned sports network and Sony announced a deal Thursday morning that will see cable channels like ESPN, ESPN 2, and the SEC-ESPN Network available on PlayStation Vue. The exact launch date was not announced, with the companies only saying that further details, including pricing information, would be released at a "later time."

A few other Disney-owned channels will also be available, including ABC Family and Fusion, which is a news and entertainment joint venture between Disney and Univision that's aimed at millennials.

PlayStation Vue is Sony's streaming video service that launched earlier this year in select markets in the US, and is now available in seven cities including Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. The service starts at $50 per month, and includes access to more than 50 channels that are delivered over the internet to a compatible Sony TV or a PS3 or PS4. Channels in the base package include broadcast channels like CBS, NBC, and Fox, and cable channels like AMC, CNN, Food Network, HGTV, and USA. More expensive tiers with additional channels are also available. It was not specified what tier the ESPN channels would be a part of.

ESPN is also available on Sling TV, the Dish Network-owned streaming video service that starts at $20 per month is available for a variety of platforms including Android, iOS, and Roku.
