The world has been a garbage fire lately. The news is a cacophony of screeching voices clamoring to be heard, demanding your attention at an increasingly eardrum-piercing volume. Paying attention is important, but can be existentially exhausting, so we are offering you two minutes and twenty-eight seconds of respite via an intrepid photographer and the Oregon Zoo.

Oregon got a bunch of snow dumped on it recently—so much that the zoo (the state's largest, in Portland) had to close to the public. But that doesn't mean the animals hunkered down: free from the usual prying eyes of tourists, they came out in full force to wild out in the snow, and one photographer decided to ski over to the zoo to capture their antics.

It's not just polar bears and seals having fun, either. Even the zoo's elephants seemed to be having a grand old time, dipping their trunks in the snow and honking it everywhere like Tony Montana and a pile of cocaine.

Remember: it is still possible to experience pure joy. So long as you're not human.
