Watch an Exclusive Clip of 'Planetary,' a New Doc About the Human Domino Effect

There are more than 7 billion of us, so it’s easy to forget that our individual actions have a domino effect on each other.

There are more than 7 billion of us, so it's easy to forget that our individual actions have a domino effect on each other. But if we were more self-aware about how interconnected we are on this one place, Earth?

That's the question posed by Planetary, a visually arresting and fascinating documentary from Overview director Guy Reid. Similar to his previous film, this also begins with gorgeous shots of Earth captured during the Apollo missions. However, our world has gone through remarkable changes since the Apollo missions and faces even more, such as those brought about by global warming, that puts the future of it in peril.

"If we are to overcome the challenges facing us as a species we must start from a place that recognises and embodies this interdependent worldview—to understand ourselves as part of this living planet we are embedded within," film writer Steve Kennedy told me.

Intermixed with the otherworldly images is insightful commentary from environmentalists, religious leaders and former NASA astronauts. Their perspectives are used to make you think about your place on Earth.

Planetary is available on Vimeo now, and the Planetary crew sent us the first eight minutes of the film to share. Enjoy the clip above.
