Trust Us, You Will Watch this Video of a Chameleon's Tongue at Least Three Times

It’s faster than a fighter jet!

There's a lot more to a chameleon than its color-changing skin.

In a video produced by BBC Earth Unplugged, a chameleon's lengthy tongue shoots out of its mouth in slow motion. The tongue is seen flinging out at nearly double the length of the lizard's actual body to catch its prey.

The crew's video recorded the eye-popping occurrence at 1,500 frames per second, 60 times slower than real-time. Perhaps it's more shocking that the tongue zaps out at a speed of 41 g-forces—four times faster the maximum acceleration than a friggin' fighter jet.

"It's an incredible acceleration," says producer Sam Hume. That's sure to make Miley Cyrus envious.
