This Candle Smells Like a Brand New Mac Because We're Out of Control

It's already sold out.

With winter on the way, we can all look forward to cozying up with a blanket, hot cocoa, and some scented candles…that smell like a brand new laptop?

Apple Accessories company Twelve South created a candle that smells like a new Mac. It lasts for 55 hours—which is apparently longer than how long the new laptop scent lasts. And within two hours of going on sale, the candle already sold out."Who knew they would be so popular!"

The "New Mac Soy Candle" costs $24 and is made from hand poured soy wax in Charleston, South Carolina, where the company is based.

"Ever open up a new Mac box and smell it? (or is that just us?)" Twelve South wrote in an announcement. "We took that scent—and literally bottled it. Meet the New Mac Soy Candle. No Kidding. It's kind of awesome."

Perhaps the candle was so wildly popular because of how curious customers were to smell a mac-scented candle. But that scent also contains hints of mint, peach, lavender, basil, sage, and mandarin, according to Twelve South.

"We've always wanted to have some carefully curated corporate merchandise, so yesterday we finally released some of our favorites including…our New Mac Candle. I had the idea a few months ago in anticipation of the iPhone 7 launch," said Andrew Green, Twelve South creative director and co-founder in an email.

"The idea is tongue-in-cheek and fun, but at the end of the day we wanted to make a candle that we wanted in our house."

So far potential customers have been incredulous.

Granted, because Apple products usually last at least a few years, we don't get to smell the just-opened-a-new-Mac scent all too often. Scents like the new Mac smell, the new car smell, or even the new apartment smell are seldom experienced.

But it still goes to show, Apple is selling us a lifestyle, and it's working.
