These 10 Deleted ‘Star Wars’ Scenes Actually Fill in a Lot of Plot Holes

Greedo shot first.

Of all the extra features the Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-Ray release had, the treasure trove of deleted scenes might have been one of the more interesting ones. Many of those scenes gave the films' stories a bit more context, gave some look into a side character or two that was later deemed a waste of screentime, or otherwise added nice flourishes.

A new video by ScreenRants gives a closer look to ten of those scenes—"scenes that could have turned out to be completely unforgettable, if they hadn't wound up on the cutting room floor."

Among them, here are some of the bigger ones I noticed:

A deleted scene shows Luke Skywalker putting together his own lightsaber, showing him turning into a full-fledged Jedi Knight before he enters Jabba the Hutt's Palace in Return of the Jedi. Instead, he makes that reveal to Jabba later on, which is, of course, not quite as badass.

After a young Anakin Skywalker wins a podrace on Tatooine, he actually gets into a scuffle with a troublemaking Rodian who ends up being Greedo in A New Hope. The real kicker here? This line:

And of course, you remember the scene where Luke and Leia kiss each other in Episode V. But a deleted scene that had them on the verge of straight up making out makes me reeeeeally hope George Lucas didn't decide on them being twins in the sequel trilogy. I'm not making a GIF for this one.

Remember: it's just over a month until The Force Awakens. Get hyped. Or just chill, everyone will get to see it. Maybe rewatch some of the original trilogy movies instead. And stop thinking about that kiss.
