Leonardo DiCaprio Is Latest Cameo in the Trumps’ Climate Change Theater

The actor had to explain how planet-friendly policies can also help jobs.

The Trumps have been getting schooled on climate change by celebrities all week. Both Ivanka, future first daughter, and President-Elect Trump met with Al Gore earlier this week to get the low-down on global warming. Then actor and documentarian Leonardo DiCaprio met with the president-elect, a noted climate change denier, as well as Ivanka and his team to explain the importance of combating climate change.

DiCaprio has been an outspoken advocate for the environment, pushing for climate change mitigation and environmental protection. He recently released a documentary, "Before the Flood," which focuses on the potential deadly effects of untempered climate change.

The actor and Terry Tamminen, CEO of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, gave a presentation to Trump, Ivanka Trump and other members of the president-elect's team about how protecting the environment can boost jobs and preserve the American economy, the Associated Press reported.

"Today, we presented the President-elect and his advisors with a framework — which LDF developed in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism — that details how to unleash a major economic revival across the United States that is centered on investments in sustainable infrastructure," Tamminen said in a release to the Associated Press.

"Our conversation focused on how to create millions of secure, American jobs in the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation."

Environmentalists are hoping talks like this will encourage Trump to let go of his climate-denying ways, like Rose let go of Jack. But with Trump's recent oil-friendly EPA advisor headed to the cabinet, it seems more like a new Trump reality show than a boost for the environment.
