The New 'Call of Duty' Is Wonderfully Dystopian

This will spook you.

If the future is what Call of Duty thinks it's going to be, then we're screwed.

Treyarch Studios released a teaser trailer for its upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 game titled Ember yesterday. The clip starts off warning us that "Mankind's greatest mistake will be its inability to control the technology it has created" before launching into a three minute manic montage of what the next fifty years will be.

The trailer is heavy on using news clips to show the progression of human and technology, from simple enhancements, like steroids, to highly advanced super human soldiers.

Just from that short clip, this could be the franchise's most controversial game yet given that Washington think tanks previously tapped Call of Duty: Black Ops writers to predict the future of warfare. The trailer also reminds us of our Goodbye, Meatbags series that examined the future of humans and robots.
