It's been a pretty terrible August for the extramarital affairs site Ashley Madison and its parent company, Avid Life Media (ALM). Now it's just got worse, at least for ALM CEO Noel Biderman.In a statement forwarded to press minutes ago, ALM announced that Biderman is stepping down."Until the appointment of a new CEO, the company will be led by the existing senior management team," the statement reads. The decision was apparently made by Biderman "in mutual agreement with the company.""This change is in the best interest of the company and allows us to continue to provide support to our members and dedicated employees. We are steadfast in our commitment to our customer base," it continues.In July, hackers who call themselves the Impact Team released snippets of customer data and internal documents before dumping email addresses, hashed passwords, and other information concerning the site's users on the internet for anyone to download. Shortly after, the Impact Team released the company's source code for a number of its products, soon followed by the emails of Biderman.Regardless, ALM says that it will continue."We are actively adjusting to the attack on our business and members' privacy by criminals. We will continue to provide access to our unique platforms for our worldwide members," the statement says."We are actively cooperating with international law enforcement in an effort to bring those responsible for the theft of proprietary member and business information to justice."
