A little film called Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened last night, and it's already on track to smash worldwide box office records. And that's great—except for the fact that you now have to spend the entire day trying to avoid spoilers online.Besides activating the nuclear option—taking the day off from work and avoid all contact with the internet entirely—there are a few things you can do right now to lessen the chances of someone spoiling the film for you.For one, there are at least two extensions for the Chrome web browser, called Force Block and Star Wars Spoiler Blocker, that will outright block web pages where spoilers are detected. (The extensions work similar to ad blocking extensions: when they detect patterns matching key phrases sourced from spoiler-filled reviews, the page is blocked.)You can also install the Chrome extension Facebook Filter Feed, which lets you input words and phrases ("star wars," for example), that will then be stripped from your Facebook feed. It's important to note that this won't protect you when using the dedicated Facebook mobile app, so keep that in mind.And for Twitter? I'd recommend using TweetDeck, and creating several filters to block any and all Star Wars-related items from appearing in your timeline. If you're on iOS, the popular third-party Twitter app Tweetbot also supports filters, so you can safely block any spoilers there as well.Godspeed!
