Charlie Miller, the Infamous Jeep Hacker, Is Leaving Twitter

Destination unknown.

A security researcher who helped expose just how vulnerable modern cars may be to hackers is leaving his full time job at Twitter.

Charlie Miller confirmed on Twitter (where else?) late last night that he would be leaving the San Francisco-based social media company later this week. Miller was hired by Twitter in 2012 to work on the company's product security team. Miller is also known for his efforts to hack into the Apple iPhone.

Miller, who has declined to say why he was leaving Twitter, generated headlines over the past few weeks for his work in demonstrating that hackers could wirelessly take over a Jeep while it was in motion.

The Jeep hack was quickly followed by a swath of similar hacks into other cars, ultimately leading to the creation yesterday of an automotive industry group designed to better secure cars from hackers.
