Bronx Zoo Is Now Home to 24 Little Penguins

Awwwwww.

Imagine a penguin. Now imagine a smaller one and multiply that by 24.

That heavenly image is a reality at the Bronx Zoo, which recently took delivery of two dozen little blue penguins. A colony of Eudyptula minor, better known as little penguins, arrived to the New York zoo from the Taronga Zoo in Sydney, Australia where they were hatched.

And yes, they are actually little. They only stand about 13 inches tall and weigh roughly three pounds when fully grown making them the world's smallest species of penguins. The Bronx Zoo is only one of three facilities in the U.S. that have them.

"The little penguins are acclimating well to their new home and are quite a sight to see," the zoo said in a statement.
