SpaceX founder Elon Musk talked a huge game earlier today during his unveiling of a proposed "Interplanetary Transport System," for taking people to Mars and colonizing the Red Planet.Musk's idea would involve building the largest rocket of all time (standing some 400 feet tall) and many other outlandish ideas, including stocking a detachable passenger spacecraft with "zero G games," "movies," "a restaurant," and other distractions so the people aboard wouldn't get bored during their six-month-long journey from Earth to Mars.

Musk openly admitted he had no real clue on where the funding for all this would come from. But that hasn't stopped SpaceX from posting a set of gorgeous new concept images on Flickr imagining what it would be like to travel the solar system in its solar-powered spacecraft. The images remind me a bit of NASA concept art crossed with something from a Kim Stanley Robinson novel, seasoned with a helping of Interstellar.Whether or not you or I ever make it to Mars and beyond, at least we have some cool new wallpapers to spice up our terrestrial lives.We start on Earth…
