Amazon is looking for people to fill Prime Now deliveries, where packages aren't sourced across states but from local delivery hubs. And they're looking for someone like you to deliver them.The company is piloting a new program called "Amazon Flex" in the Seattle area, and it promises anywhere from $18-25 an hour for drivers to deliver packages in under an hour. Drivers can choose 2-, 4-, or 8-hour flexible shifts for delivery.If you're a consumer, it won't look different than what Amazon Prime Now already offers, but instead of a full-time shipping worker passing off your packages, it's an independent contractor taking out a couple hours of their day to do that.It's currently only available in Seattle, but will expand to New York City, Baltimore, Miami, Dallas, Austin, Chicago, Indianapolis, Atlanta, and Portland soon.While the company currently relies on local stores and fulfillment center workers for shipment, Flex marks a different direction for the company as it starts to hand off some of the shipping load to locals who might have a couple hours and a car on hand.
