A Q&A With the Porn Stars Who Hope to Have Sex in Space

Pornhub is crowdfunding the world's first ever space porn.

There is underwater porn and there is aerially-shot porn and there is porn on a bus and porn on planes and porn on trains. But, thus far, there has been no porn in space. Pornhub, the superpopular porn purveyor, has just hatched a plan to film the first-ever porn in space sometime next year.

The Los Angeles-based company, which also operates sites such as YouPorn and RedTube, launched a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGoGo Wednesday seeking $3.4 million to send porn stars Eva Lovia and Johnny Sins to space to film the first-ever space porn.

This is the first plot that I know of to send people to space for the express purpose of making them have sex, but there was a plan hatched in 2013 to send porn star Coco Brown to into low Earth orbit. Brown said she didn't plan on performing in space, and, like Lance Bass (whose financial backers decided not to finance the pop star's trip to space), she still hasn't been to space.

"Johnny Sins and Eva Lovia will be mentioned in the same conversation as Einstein, lsaac Newton, Marie Curie, Galileo Galilei and Stephen Hawking."

Details on the program are scant at the moment, Pornhub hasn't said how the actors are going to get to space or who they're going to fly with, and, at the moment, the crowd funding campaign is slow going: just under $10,000 of the $3.4 million goal has been raised. I wouldn't cross your fingers that this is actually going to happen, but, just for fun, I decided to send some email questions to Pornhub and the two actors.

Why do you think porn in space hasn't happened before?
Pornhub: There is so much to do in the great beyond. Space exploration is still in its infancy stage, considering how much has yet to be discovered. Now, with the emergence of private space travel companies, (s)exploration is more feasible. We wanted to take advantage of this, penetrate the atmosphere and build our brand not only globally, but celestially.

Besides exposure, what do you hope to learn or gain from having them film porn in space?
Pornhub: This venture is primarily for our fans but also science at large. Ten, twenty years from now people will still be talking about this. It has the potential to uncover scientific truths and debunk myths of enormous proportions. Johnny Sins and Eva Lovia will be mentioned in the same conversation as Einstein, lsaac Newton, Marie Curie, Galileo Galilei and Stephen Hawking. Quite honestly, what isn't there to gain?

Do you think porn in space can be hot? Or is it the novelty?
Pornhub: If it's close enough to the sun! In all seriousness—there are fetishes for everything these days. We often do major data pulls on the tendencies of our fans, providing insightful infographics on entire populations or demographics in our Insights Blog. You'd be surprised at what people are searching for these days, so yes I'd say it can be hot and take off. Our sex tape will be the first of its kind so it will set the precedent.

There have been plans to shoot porn in space before, none of which have worked. Why will yours work?
Pornhub: Consider this. We have 60 million visitors to our site per day. If every fan who visited our site today donated a dollar we would succeed our goal of $3.4 million in hours. Add in the fact that we have a loyal and dedicated fanbase and it's a recipe for success.

What are you anticipating this experience will be like?
Johnny Sins: Unlike anything we've ever done. Between us we've done hundreds of sex scenes. But nothing of this magnitude. It's beyond just doing it for the money, or the money shot for that matter. It's about making history.

What are the best sex positions in space? Anything you're expecting to be better than on Earth?
Sins: We of course have our own preferences and those we're more comfortable with. But we want to involve all those who donate to be a part of this. So we're going to field suggestions as the launch date draws closer and come up with something extraterrestrial.

Are you worried about puking or motion sickness?
Eva Lovia: Sure, but weightlessness is something that we will be used to after the conclusion of our rigorous training.

It'll presumably be a short trip, are you going to have to be on your game from the second you hit zero gravity?
Sins: Oh absolutely. When the spaceship reaches maximum altitude there will be weightlessness (zero gravity) for at least a few minutes. It's in that timeframe that we will be climaxing – ideally, of course. But this is something we will undoubtedly prepare for throughout our training. They say practice makes perfect…

How will you train?
Pornhub: The entire crew will be thoroughly trained before the mission is executed. We will go through the same training procedures Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and every other astronaut has. The crew will undergo various phases of training to learn both technical and soft skills, gaining proficiency and mastery.

Are you worried at all? Any performance anxiety?
Lovia: Kids often dream about being President, a professional athlete, maybe even a doctor or lawyer. I wanted to be a sextronaut and I'm going to live that dream. Sure there might be some anxiety but as soon as those lights hit and the camera starts rolling it's business as usual. And I don't disappoint…
