Most of us have probably gotten drunk alone at some time or another, and experienced firsthand how quickly the experience turns from novel to depressingly lonely. That's why Eunchan Park built Drinky, a saucy little robot that will knock 'em back along with you.A video of the robot in action was uploaded to YouTube, and Park provided the following backstory:"On Christmas in 2012, I drank Soju (Korean alcohol) alone because I had no girlfriend at that time. Drinking alone was definitely terrible!! so I couldn't drink anymore. Lastly, I put an extra glass in front of me and poured Soju into it. And then, I cheered by myself with the glass of Soju, as though there was someone in front of me. Surprisingly, after that, the taste became totally to be changed!!!!!! WOW!!! So, I could finally find the secret of taste of alcohol totally depends on existence of partner. This is why I made this robot."Park received the support of Art Center Nabi, an art museum in Seoul, to help build Drinky. The bot is actually quite impressively coordinated, able to knock glasses with you in a toast and down its booze without spilling a drop. (The alcohol consumed by Drinky is collected in its glass-jar body, so you can reuse it.) Drinky can also nod, shake its head, or give you a thumbs-up, making it the ideal, nonjudgmental listener.And Drinky can hold its liquor far better than any human drinking companion, which means you'll never have to stuff it into a cab at the end of the night.
