A 'Final Fantasy VII' Remake Is Finally Happening and Here's the Trailer

Your prayers are being answered.

Square Enix has apparently been listening to you guys beg and plead for a remake of Final Fantasy VII, one of the most beloved RPGs of all time. After years of saying it would never happen, the company announced Monday night that Cloud and company will finally be getting a hi-res update.

I'm more of a Final Fantasy IX guy myself, but, wow, when that sword pops into frame at about 1:20 into the video—so much feelings.

So far, we know that it'll come to Playstation 4 first and then hit other platforms. It's got original producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura, and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima attached to it, so I'm cautiously optimistic it won't be screwed up. The trailer certainly doesn't look like gameplay, but it does look beautiful. No word on when the heck it's coming, but judging by the lack of details, I wouldn't expect it until next year at the earliest.

With this, news of Shenmue 3 being on the way, and Fallout 4, this has gotta be the best E3 in recent memory.
