The Indian River Lagoon in Florida was overrun with monstrous algae blooms in 2016, devastating local wildlife and releasing potentially dangerous bacteria into the environment. Marty Baum, a sixth-generation Floridian, is director of the nonprofit Indian Riverkeeper.
