Baikonur, KAZAKHSTAN: The Russian heavy booster rocket Proton with a Canadian Anik F1R telecommunications satellite is positioned on the launch pad at the Baikonur cosmodrome early 09 September 2005. The satellite is to reach the designated orbit in over nine hours after liftoff, the Khrunichev space concern said. The satellite will replace the old Anik F1 craft that transmits TV programs to Canada, the United States and Mexico, and renders other communication services, such as telephone and internet access.
