London outfit, Amusement, have been all over stern-faced muso blogs with their alt take on pop tunes. Mainly because they somehow manage to take chirpy 1980s retro melodies and tone it down with a good helping of melancholy.This new cut, "King Of The World" is a wonderfully echoey and uptempo track, full of plucking bass and frantic drums. And the beat for some reason reeeeeeeeally reminds me of A-Ha "Take On Me" but, like, it's non-cheesy and much more laidback sibling that's a real production nerd. Look, it just does, OK?
