Bruno Senna has revealed he is eager to race in the Verizon IndyCar Series, but that he wouldn't be interested in the whole schedule because the "risk is high" in oval racing.

In a live Facebook session, the Brazilian nephew of racing legend Ayrton Senna discussed his future career, including racing in WEC and IMSA, and the doubts over his Formula E programme.

Senna, whose uncle tested a Penske Indy car at the end of 1992 on the Phoenix Firebird road course, said: "I always think about IndyCar, it is something I would love to race but I would not race ovals in a single-seater because the risk is high.

"It's not a personal thing only, but also [for] my family. I cannot put my family through that sort of stress again of having a big crash that would damage me or kill me. I think it's agreed with my family that I am not supposed to race that.

"[But] if I get a deal of only the street courses, I would totally do it."

Formula E future uncertain

Senna, who has been dropped by Mahindra ahead of season three, dismissed the idea of joining Jaguar's Formula E team, due to his McLaren connections. The ex-Formula 1 driver is managed by Chris Goodwin, who is manager of McLaren Automotive.

Said Senna: "It's impossible because at the moment, I am not only a McLaren GT driver but I am a factory driver for McLaren Automotive, I do a lot of activities with McLaren, we do the car launches and everything so McLaren is my family, they welcomed me and I plan to continue with them in the future."

Regarding any sort of future in Formula E, he remarked: "We don't know yet: I am pretty relaxed at the moment. I have good racing programmes going on for next year.

"I hope that I can continue with Formula E next year, but if I don't do it next year, there's nothing stopping me from coming back the year after. So, let's wait and see."

However, Senna did hint that he might race in the heavily-revised IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, in between World Endurance Championship commitments.

He said: "I am already organizing to drive for McLaren next season, I would do more races for them. This year so far I have only done 24 Hours of Spa. The plan is also to continue in WEC.

"There's some plan to race in the US as well with the prototypes. We will see what happens with Formula E."
