Barnaby Joyce has updated his parliamentary records to list Vikki Campion, his former media advisor, as his "partner".The former deputy PM revised his Register of Interests to include Campion on March 19, according to media reports, although he publicly confirmed their relationship on February 13 when he apologised to his wife Natalie and said, “It is without a shadow of a doubt that Vikki Campion is my partner now.”
This timeline means Joyce, now a backbencher, failed to declare the information on official government records within the 28-day window required.Joyce resigned as deputy PM after calls he had violated the statement of ministerial standards, which requires prime ministerial approval if family members or partners are hired in another frontbencher's office.
Campion started working for Joyce's Nationals colleague Matt Canavan last year, but Joyce denied Campion was his partner at this time. The two are expecting a baby next month, although according to Joyce, the baby's paternity is a "grey area".
