Andy Weir's 2011 science-fiction novel about an astronaut stranded on Mars, The Martian, has been adapted into a film, and the official trailer was just released this morning. Matt Damon stars as Mark Watney, a presumed-dead astronaut who gets left behind on Mars and is forced to find a way to contact Earth and survive until they can send rescue. The Ridley Scott-directed feature is set to drop in time for Thanksgiving 2015. The Martian is Scott's fourth film in an impressive sci-fi resume that includes Alien, Blade Runner, and the Alien prequel Prometheus.1.
