The problem with some of America's most recognizable architectural and cultural centers is precisely that they've become so recognizable. These are insitutions in their own right, visited and explored, cherished and captured, visually, by massive amounts of people from around the world. Which leaves some--many--to visualize anew.Take Michael Shainblum, specifically his stunning Mirror City Timelapse. It's an exercise in the simplicity of kaleidoscopic lensing that had Shainblum mirroring timelapse images and video of Chicago, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Diego for five years, and another four months pulling it all together into an abstract grid of lines, shapes, movement, and light.
