Because when you finally get 15 hours a week at your local McDonald’s, the last thing they want to hear is that you’re actually a fan of Taco Bell.

On October 5th, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that in September unemployment fell from 8.1 percent to 7.8 percent. But that doesn’t change the fact that a lot of people still don’t have jobs, but that’s okay, this video’s here to help. When the source footage for this video was made in 1940, the U.S. unemployment rate was 14.6 percent. In 1942, the unemployment rate was less than 5 percent, as the massive labor demands of global war kicked in.

While we can’t expect another booming wartime economy just yet, the video still offers some interesting advice. Job hunters need to ask themselves first and foremost: “Are you honest with yourself? Are you honest with others? Are you loyal?” Because when you finally get 15 hours a week at your local McDonald’s, the last thing they want to hear is that you’re actually a fan of Taco Bell.
