To start, take four minutes and watch the above 2012 reel from adventure-chasing chronicler of the superhuman, Brain Farm. Finished? OK, good, now you understand: extreme sports porn isn’t extreme sports porn anymore. It’s this whole other thing existing at the leading edge of what filmmaking is even capable of. It’s about more than vicarious adrenaline and dudes flipping off backcountry kickers and skits. It’s this other thing and the Brain Farm production house is at the front of it. We’re talking custom-built drone helicopters sporting the sort of cameras you can’t just go somewhere and buy, but that you have to R&D your own damn self because, well, maybe not a whole lot of filmmakers are chasing snowboarders down remote Alaskan mountains on the regular.
