Desaparecidos are truly indie rock’s Black Star, having released a flawless album over a decade ago and leaving us all hanging for a follow-up ever since. But unlike Mos Def and Talib Kweli, the Omaha band has made good on their promise to return. Payola, the Conor Oberst-fronted band’s first album since 2002’s Read Music/Speak Spanish, doesn’t disappoint in the slightest. A few tracks from the forthcoming LP have been released over the last few months (below). And here’s another one, “The Underground Man,” which true Desa heads might recognize from that seven-inch the band released in 2013.Payola is out on June 23 from Epitaph Records.
