Inside the Campaign to Save Net Neutrality

The Senate voted to save net neutrality, but there's still a long road ahead. Radio Motherboard spoke to Evan Greer of Fight for the Future about next steps.

Wednesday, the Senate passed a joint resolution under the Congressional Review Act to overturn the Federal Communication Commission’s decision to roll back net neutrality protections. There's still a long road ahead (it must pass the House and be signed by President Trump), but the action was unthinkable just a few months ago.

The whole way, Evan Greer of Fight for the Future has been there. For the last few years, she and her organization have worked on some of the largest net neutrality protests, and were instrumental in getting the CRA passed. I spoke to Greer about how you go from protest to legislation, how important this win is for overall morale, and what the next steps are.

"It's been a massive collaboration, and it's been a collaboration about winning back these basic protections that people deserve," Greer said. "This is about winning back the internet for the people, for everyone to have a voice. We're doing it in the courts, and we're doing it in the states and we're doing it in Congress, and we're going to win."
