Since the May release of their 7" ‘Honeycomb’/‘Gotham,’ Animal Collective have been back in circulation on our itunes. But there are only so many times you can play two songs, and that’s why we’re excited about last night’s launch of Animal Collective Radio, a weekly online radio transmission in partnership with Domino and The Creator’s Project. Last night they premiered “Today’s Supernatural,” the first single from their upcoming album Centipede Hz, out Tuesday, September 4th.

Animal Collective will broadcast their show every Sunday night at 9PM EST through August 19th, with members of the band taking turns hosting the show. Instead of playing the top 40 like most radio stations, the show will feature mixes made by the band members themselves, as well as a variety of guest DJ sets, allowing us to discover new music while awaiting the release of their album. Last night Panda Bear hosted the show with a guest DJ set by Black Dice. Our sister site The Creator’s Project will host tracklist details and more information, and will be updated with each show.

What’s especially cool about the show is that you can participate, too. Animal Collective want to encourage fans to create their own radio mixes, and have provided a sample pack download of Centipede Hz sounds, radio IDs, and detailed instructions on how to create your own sounds. Just hit up the site and click on the tab “You Mix.” Seriously, do it. We want to see what trippy jams you can come up with.
